If you're in Buffalo, then you just cannot miss going to this place! It's a local diner and the food they serve is absolutely delicious. The servers are just soo polite and friendly that you would want to come back again and again. Not a lot of tables, but the service is real quick so you don't have to wait for long. Here's what we've tried:
Chicken Fajita Sandwich- Served in a flatbread. The sandwich is loaded with spicy chicken strips and loads of peppers. It is freshly grilled and filled with flavors.
Chicken Souvlaki Sandwich- Very similar to the fajita but this one is served on a pita bread.
Falafel Sandwich- Their falafels are simply amazing! Huge pieces of deep fried chickpea patties and the in house made tahini is just spectacular.
Lentil Sandwich- This is the most famous dish here. Lentil, rice, cheese and hot sauce rolled in pita, This one will keep you full for the whole day!
Florentine Burger- Spinach, mushroom and mozzarella. The perfect combination!
PS: The portion sizes are enormous so oder your dishes wisely! -

I'm really conflicted about how to rate Amy's Place. If I could, I'd give the food a score of 4, the service a score of 1, and the cleanliness a score of 1.5.
My husband and I were passing through Buffalo on our way back to Rochester and Amy's Place seemed like a perfect choice to stop for lunch, as I'm always looking for good vegetarian options. It was packed so we sat at the counter.
It was a good 20 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us or took our order. Lots of great menu options, but I ultimately decided on the Vegan "Beef" on Weck. My husband had the Vegan Gyro.
It was probably 30-40 minutes more before our food came out, and when it did they brought me a Reuben. It took another 10 minutes to get the right food.
The food was great when it finally came, but I don't think it makes up for the poor customer service or the unsanitary conditions. -

Amy's and I are like two people who would make a good couple in theory (I'm a vegetarian; she's very vegetarian-friendly; I work in her neighborhood so seeing each other would be easy), but for some reason or another, the chemistry isn't quite there.
Maybe *the* dish is lurking on Amy's menu, and I just haven't found it yet. The famous lentil-berry sandwich was too dry for me. The veggie burger was floppy and fell apart easily, though at least it wasn't a Boca or Morningstar patty that you could find in the grocery freezer aisle. While I didn't try it for myself, I was disappointed to see a bowl of vegan mac being microwaved behind the counter, and before it was brought to another table.
My favorite dish so far is the reuben, though the presentation seemed a bit sloppy. Instead of cutting my sandwich for me, they just stuck a knife in the middle. There was also just a single pickle slice on my plate, which just felt kind of stingy. But the seitan was good, sliced nice and thin, and not overly salty.
As someone who has a pretty big appetite, I thought I'd never say this, but for the sandwiches that come in half and full sizes, like the lentil-berry, just get the half. It's enough. This was part of my exchange with my waitress during my first visit to Amy's.
Me: Could I have the full-size lentil-berry sandwich?
Waitress: Sure, do you want half of it boxed up?
Me: Um, no, I'll just have the whole thing.
Waitress: The full is really big. You wouldn't be able to finish it, unless you guys [referring to my husband] are sharing.
I downsized to the half even though I was skeptical, since I wasn't going to have access to a fridge soon after lunch. And, what do you know, she was right. I didn't even clean my plate with the half size.
Me, later: I'm glad I didn't get the full.
Waitress: Yeah, I knew you wouldn't be able to finish it.
Me, feeling challenged but too full to argue: ...
Even though my pride's been wounded, and even though I haven't found *my* dish yet, I'm sure I'll find myself at Amy's again. -

Came back to Amy's Place for the first time since I graduated from UB. This was always our go-to for cheap and yummy eats and I was glad to stop back. The menu has a lot of vegan and vegetarian options and the staff very accommodating to those dietary needs! Breakfast is a staple of Amy's place but they do have other entrees too. Make note they are cash only. The service is also very friendly!
I got a cup of coffee, and the shawarma with eggs, home fries and flatbread. The shawarma meat was a little tough for my taste but otherwise everything was delicious with big portions for only $9.99.
Amy's place is a classic restaurant for great eats by South Campus with friendly service that keeps me coming back. -

Amy's is a wonderful local favorite with loads of yummy options for vegans, omnivores and everybody in between! They've got some seriously great breakfast food here and I love their kafta sandwich and I've gotten it many times. Their homemade hummus is fantastic and is served with yummy pita. They're usually quite busy in the morning and with UB nearby it's often filled with many local college kids as well. They've got a food truck that can be found around town as well serving wraps, sandwiches, souvlaki's and more! Unfortunately the one thing about Amy's that will continue to drive me endlessly crazy is their cash only policy. It's just plain annoying through and through and it really does keep me from coming here more often. I don't usually carry cash and in this day and age you just cannot cannot cannot continue to work with such an archaic policy. Otherwise wonderful great food and always a good stop for some yummy eats!
